Hypertension
Acupuncture significantly lowered average 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure for a six-week treatment, a randomized trail reported, however; the effect disappeared in three months after cessation of acupuncture treatment. (Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association: 2007;115;3121-3129)
Low Back Pain
Acupuncture was proved of a long-term pain-relieving effect in a randomized placebo-controlled study. The study found a significant improvement for the treatment group in return to work, quality of sleep, and analgesic intake. The results were published in the Clinical Journal of Pain 17(4):296-305, December 2001.
Recent randomized studies consistently reported that acupuncture improved the effectiveness of low back pain treatment. ( Arch Intern Med. 2006;166(4):450-457. Arch Intern Med. 2007;167(17):1892-1898.)
Insomnia
Acupuncture treatment for insomnia in pregnancy is found effective statistically significant under a quasi-randomized clinical study in a medical school. The results were published on 19 July 2005 in Acupuncture Medicine, 23(2): 47-51.
Headache
Acupuncture cuts tension headache rates by almost half, a randomized controlled trial study reported on 29 Jul 2005 in British Medical Journal 331:376-382.
Fibromyalgia
Mayo Clinic study finds acupuncture relieves Fibromyalgia patients' symptoms of pain, fatigue and anxiety significantly after giving them acupuncture with six sessions over two to three weeks (August 29, 2005)
Postoperative Nausea
Acupuncture is more effective in reducing nausea than the leading medication prescribed for patients recovering form major breast surgery, a randomized controlled study conducted by Duke University Medical Center researchers reported inAnesthesia and Analgesia 2004 99: 1070-1075

Pelvic Pain in Pregnant Women
Adding acupuncture to standard treatment is superior to standard treatment, and standard treatment plus stabilizing exercise for pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy, reported in British Medical Journal 2005:330;761 by Perinatal Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Institute for the Health of Women and Children, Sweden.
Depression During Pregnancy
A randomized controlled study found acupuncture is a promising treatment for depression during pregnancy. After 8 weeks treatment, response rates was 69% for the acupuncture treatment group as compared to 32% for the massage treatment one. The study was conducted by Stanford University and et al, published in Journal of Affective Disorders 83 (2004) 89-95.
